Both employees and employers are required to give notice in the case of termination of employment.
In the case of a written contract the notice period will be set out.
In the absence of a written contract then employees who have been in continuous employment for at least 13 weeks are obliged to provide their employer with one week’s notice.
The minimum notice is dependent on the length of service given by the employee:

2 years – 5 years
5 years – 10 years
10 years – 15 years
More than15 years

Sick leave is at the discretion of the employer.
